Enjoyment and Understanding of the Natural Heritage
The Natural Heritage of Scotland Series
- Scottish Natural Heritage
- TSO (The Stationery Office)
This publication is based on the proceedings of the Scottish Natural Heritage Conference 2000, which looked at the research into open-air recreation that has developed from the pioneering work of Joy Tivy and Terry Coppock. In discussing the balance of rights and responsibilities, which is central to the recent legislation on access to the countryside, it provided a forum for researchers to explain their findings to policy makers looking for examples of best practice. The conference took a broad approach and also looked at related practice in Norway and USA and the way campaigns had been used to influenced behaviour in other areas such as driving and health.
