The main United Kingdom, or Prime Minister's list, details the people from all walks of life awarded honours for the New Year 2018. Separate lists are also published for honours awarded in a number of dependencies and overseas territories.

Among those being honoured are:

  • A Knighthood for Ringo Starr in recognition of his services to music;

  • A Damehood for Darcey Bussell for services to dance;

  • An OBE for Sam Warburton for his services to rugby union;

  • A Knighthood for Nick Clegg for political and public service;

  • A CBE for Jilly Cooper, for services to literature and charity;

  • A CBE for Rick Stein for his services to the economy;

  • An OBE for Eamonn Holmes for his services to broadcasting;

  • An Knighthood ofr Bee Gee Barry Gibb for his services to music and charity; and

  • An MBE for Wiley for his services to music.

Helen Sharman joins the Order of St Michael and St George, one of the highest honours, 26 years after her journey to the Soviet Mir Space Station made her the first British astronaut.

Future lists will see honours for inspirational action by people following the Grenfell Tower fire and the terror attacks in London and Manchester.
