This bulletin deals with the design, setting up and running of a building project for MFLs in a secondary school. It covers a broad range of issues, from furniture and equipment to new building work. It provides guidance for all those involved in a building project, from the teaching staff to the design consultants.
The bulletin is divided up into 5 sections:
Section 1 - The MFL suite outlines the range of spaces in a typical MFL suite and describes how to calculate the numbers of timetabied spaces required. It gives guidance on planning the suite
Section 2 - Gives guidance in more detail on the teaching and non-teaching spaces that might be found in the MFL suite. Shows typical furniture layouts.
Section 3 - describes typical MFL equipment and how it can be used most effectively. Gives guidance on choosing and using furniture.
Section 4 - Outlines the process of setting up and implementing a building project, from briefing to on-site construction. This section is especially useful to school governors and teachers who have no knowledge or experience of the procedure.
Section 5 - Case studies - 4 in total, show the issues covered in the rest of the document applied to real school projects, This section is likely to be of interest to all readers.
