- Home Office
- TSO (The Stationery Office)
The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) and its Codes of Practice are a vital part of the legislative framework that lays out police powers for combating crime. PACE Code F details the visual recording with sound of interviews with suspects. The contents of this code should be considered after midnight on 1 May 2010.
There is no statutory requirement on police officers to visually record interviews. However, the contents of Code F should be considered if an interviewing officer decides to make a visual recording with sound of an interview with a suspect on or after 27 October 2013.
