The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) is the highest award given to UK volunteer groups, being equivalent to the MBE.
The prestigious award recognises outstanding work done by volunteer groups in their communities, including:
providing a wide range of services to empower, support and improve the lives of those living within Mansfield;
developing neighbourhood watch through HertsWatch to create safer, informed communities and reduce crime in Hertfordshire;
preventing homelessness through volunteer community hosting and providing a safety net to those forced to leave their home in Tyne and Wear;
providing support, meals, skills workshops and advice services for vulnerable and homeless people in South Lakes, Cumbria;
providing accessible circus workshops for children and young people in County Antrim; and
providing a free service to the NHS transporting urgent samples, blood, medical equipment and medication in Dumfries and Galloway.
Each person who is awarded an honour will have their own personal and permanent record, containing all the details of their award. Commemorate an award with a personalised edition of The Gazette. Visit The Gazette shop for more information.
