The principal Regulations implement, in relation to certain marine works, Directive 2003/35/EC providing for public participation in respect of the drawing up of certain plans and programmes relating to the environment and amending with regard to public participation and access to justice Council Directives 85/337/EEC and 96/61/EC and Council Directive 85/337/EEC on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment, as last amended by Directive 2003/35/EC. These Regulations, which extend to England and Wales only, clarify that, for the purposes of the principal Regulations, "harbour works" include works involving the making of modifications to an existing harbour, such as the extraction of minerals by dredging in harbours, where the making of modifications to the harbour is not the purpose of the works. - £4.00 - 9780111484708.
