Gaining the right skills to access and progress in education and employment determines an individual's ability to play an active role in society. It is also key to ongoing economic prosperity in the UK. Assessing and recognising learning is a critical part of an effective system.
'Confidence in Standards: Regulating and Developing Qualifications and Assessment (Cm. 7281)' sets out plans to reform how tests and qualifications are regulated. A new independent regulator of qualifications and tests for England, which will be called the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator, will be established.
