Building Regulations Approved Document B – Volume 1
Fire Safety: Dwellinghouses
- Author:
- The Stationery Office (TSO)
This Approved Document provides guidance to support compliance with fire safety standards set out as part of the Building Regulations. Revisions to Building Regulations Part B Fire Safety came into force 06 April 2007 and affect future building work, such as the erection, extension or material alteration of a building, and how fire safety is designed into a building. Amendments to the guidance on domestic loft conversions, the use of door-closing devices and the provision of sprinklers in tall blocks of flats are included.
Part B has been split into Volume 1: Dwellinghouses and Volume 2: Buildings other than Dwellinghouses to make the guidance more accessible and easier to use. Anyone intending to carry out building work in England and Wales is required by law to obtain building control approval to ensure the Regulations are complied with.
