Water Awareness is a training programme to address the Fire Service Manual 'Working on, in or near water' Level 1 training requirements and is currently used across Fire & Rescue Services in England and Wales.
Introduced by CFO Alan Riddet (former CFOA Lead Officer, Water Rescue and Chief Fire Officer of Lincolnshire), the information contained in this programme is based on best practice guidance including the advice issued by the Water Working Group.
Presented in 13 sections, the DVD training programme covers safety issues, hazards, control measures, and self-protection techniques.
The accompanying CD-ROM contains a glossary, training notes, a question bank, and a cross-mapping exercise for Firefighter Rolemaps, showing how the programme supports development.
At the conclusion of each section, learners can assess their comprehension against the accepted criteria prior to progression.
