Findings for 2006 include: i) the estimated number of international arrivals from outside the Common Travel Area rose by 3% to 104.8 million with 12.9 million non-EEA nationals, a 9% rise on 2005; ii) asylum applications, excluding dependants, fell by 8% to 23,610, with the highest number of applications from nationals of Eritrea, Afghanistan, Iran, China and Somalia; and iii) asylum removals (including assisted returns and some voluntary departures) rose by 19% to 16,330, excluding dependents.
