The Queen's Speech outlines the Government's legislative programme for the 2012-13 session of Parliament.
The programme will focus on the following issues:
-
economic growth;
-
justice and constitutional reform; and
-
a priority to reduce the deficit and restore economic stability.
Legislation to be introduced will include measures to:
-
reduce burdens on business by repealing unnecessary legislation;
-
reform competition law;
-
establish a Green Investment Bank;
-
strengthen regulation of the financial services sector and implement the recommendations of the Independent Commission on Banking;
-
reduce burdens on charities;
-
reform the water industry in England and Wales;
-
modernise the pension system and reform the state and public service pensions;
-
improve provision for disabled children and children with special educational needs;
-
modernise adult care and support in England;
-
introduce individual registration of electors;
-
reform the composition of the House of Lords;
-
establish the National Crime Agency to tackle the most serious and organised crime and strengthen border security; and
-
strengthen the oversight of the security services.
