'Political Party Finance (HC 1763)' is a report which calls for progress in reforming party political finance arrangements, highlighting the opportunity represented by the report from the Committee on Standards in Public Life (CSPL) on Political Party Finance (see below), to achieve a solution.

The report calls on the Government to fulfil its commitment to pursue a detailed agreement on limiting donations and reforming party funding in order to remove big money from politics, so that no party is perceived to have gained disproportionately by any reform in this area.

The Committee concludes that a cross-party solution will not be easy, but public confidence risks being undermined should a future scandal intervene before a solution is in place. All political parties must seize the opportunity presented by the CSPL to find such a solution.
