This report sets out the Government's second response to the Committee's original report (HLP 20-I, session 2005-06, ISBN 0104007303) published in July 2005 and a follow-up report (HLP 146, session 2005-06, ISBN 0104008377) published in March 2006. The Committee's welcomes the fact that, for the first time, the Government seems to be taking the scientific aspects of ageing seriously in this second response to the Committee's recommendations, although it is noted with regret that this was not the case in the Government's first response made over a year previously.
