This bulletin contains data on the range of vocational qualifications awarded during 2000/01 including National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), General National Vocational Qualifications (GNVQs) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs); as well as a comparison of vocational and academic awards in England by age group. Findings for 2000-01 include: over 3.5 million NVQs/SVQs have been awarded since their introduction in 1987; and there was a six per cent decrease in the number of NVQs/SVQs awarded compared to the previous year.
