Planning Policy Statements (PPS) set out the Government's national policy on different aspects of spatial planning in England. 'Planning Policy Statement 4: Planning for Sustainable Economic Growth' sets out planning policies for economic developments.These policies complement but do not replace or override other national planning policies and should be read alongside other relevant statements of national planning policy.
The Government's overarching objective is sustainable economic growth: that is growth that can be sustained and is within environmental limits but also enhances environmental and social welfare and avoids extremes in future economic cycles. The policies in the PPS includes economic development within the B Use Classes, public and community uses and town centre uses, The policies also apply to other developments which achieves at one of the objectives set.
