The Northern Ireland Assembly has three committee types:

  • Statutory Committees – devised to assist each Minister on the formulation of policy relating to issues within his or her responsibilities;

  • Standing Committees – permanent Committees of the Assembly; and

  • Ad hoc Committees – called upon to deal with specific time sensitive issues on occasion.
