The Commission's annual report gives an account of the organisation's achievements in progressing a number health and safety aims and strategic themes in 1999/2000. Part 2 of the report presents, in tabular and graphical format, a statistical summary of the latest statistics available on occupational injuries, ill health, dangerous occurrences and gas safety. The number of fatal injuries to all workers is expected to fall to 218 in 1999/2000, a reduction of 14 per cent over the previous year. This fall is represented across most sectors although construction is likely to see its fatality rate rise slightly to 4.5 per 100,000.
