The Building Regulations 2000The Building Regulations are primarily concerned with protecting the health and safety of those in and around buildings, and also address energy conservation and access to and use of buildings. Anyone intending to carry out building work is required by law to obtain building control approval to ensure that building regulations are complied with.

The Approved Documents provide technical guidance on ways of complying with the Building Regulations. They are continuously revised in line with new legislation. Therefore it is essential to keep fully updated with the latest editions and amendments. TSO Approved Documents are produced under licence from the Crown using content issued by CLG.

The Building Regulations 2010: Approved Documents L2A and L2B – Published June 2010

Approved Documents L2A and L2B (2010) come into force October 2010 in support of the Building Regulations 2010 and will require a 25% improvement on the 2006 standards for every new home. The Approved Documents provide technical guidance on ways of complying with the Building Regulations; They are continuously revised in line with new legislations. Therefore, it is essential to keep fully updates with the latest editions and amendments.



Approved Document F - Ventilation – Published May 2010

The revised Approved Document F (2010) comes into force October 2010 to maintain indoor air quality and avoid adverse health effects that could otherwise have occurred due to the greater tendency to have more airtight buildings. This document has been revised in support of the Building Regulations 2010.

Approved Document J - Combustion Appliances and Fuel Storage Systems – Published May 2010

This revised Approved Document J (2010) comes into force October 2010 in support of the Building Regulations 2010. To ensure that combustion appliances can continue to function safely in more airtight homes, guidance contained in the revised Part J should be followed.

The Building Regulations 2010: Approved Document L1A and L1B – Published May 2010

Approved Documents L1A and L1B will come into force in October 2010 in support of the Building Regulations 2010. These new parts will require a 25% improvement on the 2006 standards for every new home. Improvements will be delivered overall through an aggregate approach for improvements of new non-domestic buildings.

Approved Document G - Sanitation, Hot Water and Water Efficiency – Published March 2010

Approved Document G came into effect 06 Apil 2010 and provides guidance on observing the Building Regulations concerned with sanitation, hot water and water efficiency. This edition contains significant changes in legal requirements and technical guidance, making it an essential reference for anyone undertaking building work.
