Bristol Water plc challenged the price determination that the Water Service Regulatory Authority (Ofwat) made on 26 November 2009. On 8 February 2010 Ofwat made a reference to the Competition Commission.

The CC had six months to investigate and determine the adjustment factor 'K', which limits the price that Bristol Water plc may charge for supplying water for the period 2010--2015.

The CC looked in detail at the various components used in setting the price limit, assessing submissions and information supplied by Bristol Water, Ofwat and third parties including CC Water, as well as appointing their own independent engineering consultants. The final determination provides the findings and basis for the CC conclusion.
