The UNEP's third Global Environment Outlook (GEO-3) presents a 30-year retrospective analysis of environmental conditions and trends, and associated policy responses. This publication provides an overview of national, regional, sub-regional and global statistical data sets used for the GEO-3 report.

Data covers the time period 1972-2002 where available, and refers to key environmental issues including climate change, deforestation and biodiversity, as well as relevant socio-economic characteristics such as economic growth, energy use and life expectancy. An accompanying CD-ROM gives access to the full compendium tables.
